The London & South Western Railway Company commenced their own shipping services in 1863. Their principal services were between Southampton and Le Havre and the Channel Islands and St. Malo. Limited services were also run to Cherbourg and Caen. In 1923 the company was amalgamated with the London Brighton & South Coast Railway and the South Eastern & Chatham Railway to become the Southern Railway.
